RUPTURE - Work in Progress

FREE EVENTS and WORKSHOPS starting May 2016

Hello, I’m Stefanie and I’m organizing four artist residencies at the Waiting Room over the coming months. The artists taking part share a few things in common- they are highly talented and show immense commitment in their artistic practices. They push themselves hard and create innovative work.

The Waiting Room is the perfect place for artists to try out new things and think about the St. Botolph’s area in new ways. What’s more, each residency will be followed by a FREE EVENT or FREE WORKSHOP to which everyone is invited! There will be a photographic printing workshop, digital projections, music, and instructional art.

There is the thing with funding of course, and there is no such thing as a free artist residency. I have been able to raise the majority of funds through a Grants for the Arts Application with Arts Council England. This covers the cost to pay the artists and some of the materials they will be using.

We are still a bit short on cash to cover overheads and printing. These costs, and getting them covered, are really important to provide quality events that are free for the community, and support the artists in their professional development.

I have set up a kickstarter page with more details and the opportunity to support us and become part of this project. The response has been fantastic so far and we raised the majority of the money pledged. Thanks to everyone who has already supported us!

We are still a little short though. If you pledge money now you can win great rewards including unique artworks created by the artists in residence and free tours of the workshops at the Waiting Room. This is a chance to get to see the behind the scenes at this venue and how it all really works.

However much or little you can give, it’s all going straight back into the community and supports creatives in Colchester.

Go on, be a legend and help make this a reality!
