We think it’s important to explain what we think these things mean.
They are integral to our existence and the way you’ll see us behave.

1. What do we mean by DIY
DIY = do it yourself. We provide a venue for local people to take a creative risk and try out new ideas for cultural events.

Whether your idea is to single handedly reignite the 90’s rave scene or to set up a regular knit and knatter group with a twist – we provide the space (and a bit of moral support) and you provide the rest.

2. What do we mean by inclusive?
Let’s give you some examples…

Our Maker Space workshops are open to professional artists and veteran craft people, right the way through to hobbyists and the newly inquisitive.

In any given week our venue can host a corporate privately hired think tank event, a live grindcore gig, a bazaar of local makers and a 1976 hand built reggae sound system.

Our open kitchen will support all manner of new foodie start ups. A game keeper’s daughter, a nutritionist, a globally inspired baker, a vegan street food company…

…hopefully you are starting to catch our drift?

3. What do we mean by local?
We are a community, with a diverse set of views, opinions, talent and tastes. To maintain a fair balance and a genuine sense of community, no single opinion, view or preference should outweigh another.

With culture you will often find elitism, with local you will often experience cliques.

To avoid this, we go out of our way to welcome those with open minds, we encourage people to share their views but in equal measure you must consider others too.
