SUMMARY:Exhibition: IMPRESS 2015
DESCRIPTION:Our letterpress exhibition returns for its 2nd year!  Featuring work produced only in the previous 12 months by letterpress printers from Essex\, Suffolk\, Norfolk\, Cambridgeshire\, Hertfordshire and East London. As a celebration and cross section of contemporary letterpress\, we'll be showcasing prints produced by long-term hobby printers\, established commercial workshops and enthusiastic newcomers.  Many of the prints will be available to purchase\, and a small portion of all sales will go towards funding equipment and other essential resources for the St Botolph's Letterpress project.  ----  Opening hours vary\, but guaranteed viewing days are THURSDAYS & SUNDAYS: 10am to 6pm

SUMMARY:BIG SUNDAY: Open Studio - Print Room Take over
DESCRIPTION:Take a peek inside our maker workshop we are developing in partnership with Cuckoo Farm Studios.   This month\, join the resident print makers at the Waiting Room who are taking over the new monthly Open Studios event. Spilling into the main space to celebrate IMPRESS\, an exhibition of local letterpress prints organised by the St Botolph’s Letterpress project.  WHAT ARE OPEN STUDIOS? Open and free to everyone\, our monthly open studio is great chance to meet some of our residents makers\, hear inspiring talks by local craft people\, help us improve the space and explore becoming a member.   A full programme for the day will be posted on this page ahead of the event. Pop back for more information in the lead up.  Our workshop offers affordable access to basic equipment such as workbenches\, pillar drills\, soldering irons\, sewing machines and saws etc.  We also have a growing list of specialist traditional and contemporary making tools alongside our community of technicians.   Whether you are a fan of letterpresses and silkscreen\, curious about our kiln and nano brewery\, keen to try out our knitting machines or take a sneaky peek in our darkroom – our monthly open studio (3rd Sunday of every month) is an ideal opportunity to see what all the fuss is about. Another great street community event in Colchester! Slack Space\, The Waiting Room\, The MInories and Firstsite are getting together with Illluminati Creative Arts to create a huge street festival in and around what is now known as the St Botolphs Quarter.  It will fill all the available spaces in and around the four venues\, with an explosion of colour\, sounds\, music\, dance\, words\, and street food.  More details and useful links to follow

SUMMARY:Print Room Takeover w/Print to the People
DESCRIPTION:For the first of our broader print room takeover events we are extremely excited to be joined by Print to the People from Norwich.  Running a community print workshop which is pretty much everything we inspire to be\, we can't wait for this talk. We'll be hearing about all aspects of their print workshop\, from screen printing through to letterpress and even Risograph.  If we're lucky we might also get an insiders glimpse into the world of the John Jarrold Museum in Norwich\, where many of the team learned the basics of letterpress printing.  On top of that\, we'll be providing a practical print demo with designs that PttP are bringing down with them. As usual we'll be using our Adana 8x5\, but we're pleased to say that we'll also be screen printing! We'll have a lot to cram in\, so don't be late!
