Apply to organise an event

We are inviting you (artists, makers, thinkers and talkers from the general public, local residents and neighbouring businesses) to submit proposals on the form below to use the Waiting Room Space free-of-charge.

We will prioritise ideas that help us develop the town’s cultural heritage and creative identity. We’re looking for both one off and regular events.

Proposals can include talks, lectures, discussions, exhibitions, shops, markets, performance, demonstrations, screenings, workshops, festivals, meetups, clubs or whatever you feel is appropriate. We try to remain flexible, but considering the below weekly framework may speed up your application process.

  • Sunday & Mondays – open to all event applications
  • Tuesdays – reserved for events for young people
  • Wednesday – free open public day, reserved for events connected to Hacking and Making.
  • Thursdays – open to all event applications but must be free for local Students
  • Fridays – our regular DJ and informal dining evenings
  • Saturday – live performance night for poetry, theatre, comedy, spoken word and live music

Have an idea? Please check our calendar for available dates and complete the simple form below. We review applications every week on a Friday. You will receive an automated email confirmation and then we’ll will be in touch to advise if your application has been successful or if we need any further information.

  • Please take your time and provide as much detail as possible about your event and its creative content. Provide information of how you think your idea meets the purpose of the Waiting Room - to “connect the St Botolph’s Quarter to Colchester and beyond through culture and creativity. Those providing incomplete of insufficient information maybe be rejected or asked to resubmit an application.
    To ensure our facilities are used by as many people as possible, we always encourage shared use of the space where ever possible.
