Join the (Bar) family

The Waiting Room bar has been open for nearly two years now. Throughout that time we built a team – a family – and together we like to think we’ve created something pretty special. (image: Gabriela & Tristan our Friday night bar team)

As the number of events grow so does the number of people in our team and we’re on the lookout for some people to come onboard.

We’re not run in the usual way. We have fun and work in a cooperative fashion where we share the responsibility equally and do the same with any rewards – which come in all shapes and sizes.

Our main aim is to create some truly special, memorable moments for Colchester. Quality, innovation and creativity first, individual reward last - we believe, with this approach, financial sustainability will follow and personal fulfilment is guaranteed.

We’re looking for at least two highly creative and driven individuals to join our team to help cover our Saturday live events. You’ll be 18+, a welcoming host, able to articulate the wider Waiting Room vision, dig all things live performance, have an attention to detail and be passionate about every single drink you serve – whether its a locally brewed Pitfield Red Ale, Dedham Vale Bacchus Wine, Coffee or in-house infusion.

Bar experience would be an advantage but not essential. All training will be given and you’ll have the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing producers from Colchester and surrounding area.

Commitment involves being available to work at least once a fortnight on a Saturday with the flexibility to swap shifts with other team members when other things get in the way.

Below is a diagram that shows how we distribute our income – ensuring we share the risk, sustain the Waiting Room space while ensuring no one party is benefitting inequitably at another’s expense.
