Box Building with Broa

This week’s Maker Wednesday session with be hosted by Broa Sams, a local specialist fabricator on 4th June from 7.30pm.

Broa constructs various props, staging, sculptures and creations from wood and metal mainly for the fine arts industry, but also music and film. He’s worked with an exhaustive list of contemporary British artists including Roger Hiorns, Anish Kapoor and Rachael Whiteread. International artists include Paul Macarthy, Ernesto Neto and Jeff Koons. His projects are fabricated in unorthodox ways from peculiar materials, realised on his CNC machine in Waterloo.

Broa helped create our box seating used in the early days of the Waiting Room (5 points for anyone who remembers these). He is also the man behind our Waiting Room sign. On Wednesday night you can hear more from Broa and his craft, and help us build and paint new seating for our outdoor theatre.

This week all you need to attend is you and your painting gear.

The Hack/Maker/Library Space hosts Maker Wednesdays every week. They are free and informal workshop sessions held at the St Botolph’s Waiting Room. They are open to everyone of all ages, backgrounds and skills. Maker Wednesdays provide a flavour of what’s on offer at our Hack/Maker/Library/Space. A shared workshop environment, accessed via a pay what you can membership scheme.
