Walk this way…
Some of you may have noticed a new mural on the Waiting Room building last week. After a winter in hibernation local artist Dave Dixon, who is also a lecturer at Colchester School of Art, came up to our venue with four design students to create some new way finding to signpost weary passers-by towards our little urban oasis in the heart of the St Botolph’s Quarter.
Hundreds of people walk passed the old bus station waiting room building every week, either on their way through the public realm to firstsite the stunning Minories garden. It was too easy to walk by and not realise there’s a community project hidden inside.
We’re big fans of Mr Dixon and his work at the Waiting Room, he was also responsible for the mural inside the main space (pic below). You can follow David, a drawing machine is seems, on instagram and this mural is one of a series of new public artworks being installed over the spring to help us promote the new start-ups we are incubating inside the space.
The first five people to tweet or facebook a selfie mentioning @stbotolphs/The Waiting Room and show it to our Bar/Café/Kitchen staff will get a drink on us.
